Student Life at Drive Virtual Academy
The world is the classroom. At Drive Virtual Academy, students are encouraged to spend time out in the world learning. Typical virtual school consists of sitting in front of the screen reading and typing. While that is a good way to communicate online and can be useful for research, we also challenge and encourage students to make their community and, really the whole universe their learning environment. Our students use technology as a tool for connection to knowledge, research, people, and places that are inaccessible but for the power of the internet. They share with others, giving and receiving feedback because the computer is a convenient and powerful space for expression and communication. As amazing as this is, students still need to get out into the community, and do the work. They need to explore places, meet people, and participate in local opportunities and events. The marriage of technology and one's community give us endless options for deep learning.
