Community & Councils

Community

Our students may not live in the same community, but each of us has a community that surrounds us and provides rich, authentic learning opportunities. Exploring each of our communities is central to our mission.

Students explore the cultures, ecology, and economy that drive their communities. They devise and participate in service learning opportunities that require getting out and experiencing nature, visiting local businesses, and meeting people from different neighborhoods. This exploration serves as an endless source of inquiry that will drive projects linking local and global learning. Students learn how to ask clear and important questions, express themselves, and effectively listen and give feedback to others. The connection forged between students and the community provides a foundation where students care and are drawn to areas where they can affect positive change. Drive empowers students to find ways to create that change.

We embrace each student’s immediate circle of family or caregivers as members of our school community. We look forward to learning from you and working with you to make Drive all it can be.

    • Investigates academic issues brought to its attention that appear to diverge from the beliefs of Drive Virtual Academy

    • Governs any special committees that the council deems necessary
